How can you have a website devoted to law without a sophisticated disclaimer?
You can't. Here it is (the "fine print").
Whomsoever (hereinafter designated as "the party of the first part") may read one, more than one or less than one page(s) of this web site, and all that appears hereunder, heretofore, linked to, and hereafter, shall, should, may and must understand that the author of said pages assumes no liability whatsoever, in whole or in part, for better or worse, for richer or poorer, till death do he/him/her/she/it part, for anything whatsoever, including (but not limited to) claims made by the party of the first part (or any other parts, without limitation), or his/her successors or assigns, or alleged successors or assigns. Every other disclaimer ever written by anybody is hereby incorporated by reference at this point, as if set forth in full herein. This disclaimer extends not only to the author of said pages and the author's publisher, but also to his family (especially his dachshund and his younger brother, not necessarily in that order), and to every other person, living or dead, whom said author likes. Also, although Dennis J. Tonsing is neither an administrator, employee, agent, nor servant of any School of Law, none of the words (and ideas communicated thereby, or intended to be communicated thereby, or, although not intended to be communicated, actually communicated) expressed on this website, or any part or portion hereof, could, should, may or might be attributed to said school, which, not existing, has not been said; rather they are generated solely by the grey matter, if any, in (not on) said non-administrator’s (etc.) head, and those heads of such contributors of such words as may be, or in fact are, designated as sources and/or authors of said words. Or not.
But wait, there’s more. The material posted on this web site (including not only herein, but also, hereon, hereunder, and herewherever) is intended solely for educational use by law students and those anticipating becoming law students. No material posted (as aforementioned) should or may be used to resolve existing legal disputes, dilemmas, controversies, problems, conundrums, or cases filed in any court in any jurisdiction by anybody at any time, anywhere. Persons (or non-persons, if such exist) with existing legal disputes or controversies (or disputes or controversies which are not legal, but may become legal, or not) are advised to seek the assistance of competent legal counsel licensed to practice law in the state or jurisdiction where the dispute, dilemma, controversy, problem, conundrum or case is or may become pending.
Unfortunately, no one can guarantee the accuracy of any information presented on these web pages, or the success – in any pursuit whatsoever – of anyone perusing these pages. No warranties (express, implied or imaginary) apply to any information provided on the web pages to which this disclaimer applies. All information is provided “as is” – without warranty.
The party of the first part (as that term is employed above [so far above that you will undoubtedly have to reread the disclaimer to figure out where – get used to it, Beginning Law Student]) assumes the entire risk as to the accuracy and the use of this document and other documents posted herein by the party of any other part, or before or after said party or parties, whether or not the party of the first part was invited to any of said parties. [End of disclaimer, until I decide to disclaim even more.]
That having been said (written), my intention in providing these pages is to help as many law students as possible achieve their dreams of excelling in law school and achieving their personal best!
